Editorial Standards and Image Sources
Cruises Info covers cruises, cruise lines, passenger ships, itineraries, ports and life on board, with news selected for the interests of cruise passengers. This page sets the standards for preparing our news and selecting images.
How our news is prepared
Our editorial standard is to prepare original news summaries from verifiable information, including official announcements, research publications, public records and reliable reporting. We distinguish the date of an event from the date of an announcement and from our own publication date. Manufacturer statements are attributed to the company; an announcement is not presented as an independent product test.
We do not claim to have attended an event, interviewed a source or tested a product unless that work actually took place. Digital and AI-assisted tools may support research, organization and drafting, but they do not replace source checking and editorial responsibility. Substantial corrections should be identified rather than hidden behind a new publication date.
Sources and links
Sources and checking dates belong in our editorial records. Public links are added where they help readers verify a claim, identify the original announcement, consult data or take a relevant next step. Not every short news item requires an external link, but omitting a link does not remove the need for accurate attribution. Paid or sponsored content must be identified, and commercial relationships must not be presented as independent recommendations.
Images and permissions
Images selected for publication must be our own, used with the rights holder’s permission, or covered by a suitable paid or free license. A stock image used for illustration must not be presented as a photograph of the specific event, vessel or product unless it genuinely depicts it. Cropping, recoloring or otherwise modifying someone else’s photograph does not create permission to use it.
The following services are potential image sources, not a claim that every service has already supplied images to this website:
- Pixabay — qualifying images under the Pixabay Content License, subject to its restrictions and any additional rights.
- Pexels — licensed stock photographs and video, with restrictions including misleading endorsement.
- Unsplash — images covered by its free license; Unsplash+ has separate terms.
- Canva — eligible content only under the applicable asset and design license. A subscription does not authorize every use of every element.
Credits and image records
Each selected file requires its own rights check. The record should identify the asset URL or ID, creator, license or permission, checking date, permitted use, required credit and the article where it appears. We prefer suitable images without mandatory individual attribution when available, while still keeping the source record. Any required credit must appear with the image or in the location specified by its license. Canva’s current agreement requires a contributor credit for editorial use; this general page is not a substitute for it.
Social-media availability, a search result or a press-room download is not by itself permission to republish a photograph. Additional restrictions may apply to recognizable people, brands, artwork or private property. If permission for the intended use cannot be established, the file should not be published.
Rights questions and corrections
A useful rights or accuracy inquiry identifies the article URL, the image or statement concerned, the rights holder or original source, and the requested correction. This page explains editorial standards; it does not grant visitors permission to reuse third-party images or replace the license attached to an individual file.
