A body was recovered Wednesday night, March 16, after a man jumped overboard from the Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Horizon ship.
In a statement, Carnival said that along with the US Coast Guard, the ship’s crew had located and recovered the passenger’s body. The company’s care team was providing assistance to her family.
Earlier on Wednesday, the cruise line said Carnival Horizon was “conducting a search for a guest who jumped overboard” from deck 11 at 7 p.m. ET.

The accident occurred after the ocean liner set sail from Grand Turk Island. Horizon was scheduled to arrive in Cozumel on Thursday, March 17.
The Coast Guard cleared Carnival Horizon to resume its voyage.
