Norwegian Cruises has it all. According to the US health authority, US cruise companies must do test drives to prove that they can operate corona-free.
According to CEO Frank Del Rio, Norwegian Cruise Line will be able to carry out test drives as early as January. Del Rio emphasizes the strict adherence to the CDC guidelines and believes to be able to start by January.
The exact implementation of the 74 pages guideline and the framework set by the CDC do not make it easy.
In the meantime, all US shipowners have canceled the cruises for December, even if there was great hope that they would be able to take test drives in December.
According to Del Rio, test cruises are independently checked by a third party, DNV-GL, and monitored by the CDC.
Sea trials allow Norwegian to train crew and validate the effectiveness of its improved health and safety protocols.
