Several people tested positive for the coronavirus on board the Mein Schiff 2
Anomalies on the day of departure at TUI Cruises. Due to the current regulations, travelers to Germany must already present a negative corona test at the beginning of their entry. After this decision was made, TUI Cruises, which has been operating in the Canary Islands since November, reacted quickly and offered a corona test for the guests to leave.
Exactly these tests were abnormal today, because four people on board tested positive for the corona virus. The contact group was also placed in quarantine. To carry out the quarantine, the passengers concerned should be brought to a hotel. TUI Cruises bears the costs for board and lodging. In addition, the Hamburg shipping company will then return the passengers home.
The affected persons should test positive twice by antigen test and once by PCR test. With the second and third tests, incorrect testing of the people could be largely excluded.
Despite the incident, Mein Schiff 2 is scheduled to start a new cruise today. The guests who were on the last trip and now had to extend their stay in their cabins until 5 p.m. The people who were quarantined have to stay there for 10 days.
After the ship was released, embarkation of the new passengers began. In the evening Mein Schiff 2 will start its new voyage.
