A Holland America Line passenger died on a seaplane crash in Alaska, other five also were found dead in the accident, including the pilot.
On August 5th, 2021 there was a sad incident involving passengers from MS Nieuw Amsterdam, which is part of the Holland America Line fleet.
The ship is currently cruising in Alaska, making a port call in Ketchikan on the said date.
At the current status, the passengers of the cruise ship have the free choice whether they leave the ship individually or with a guided shore excursion.
An individual shore leave, however, ended in a drama, because, as reported mainly in the local media, passengers were killed in a seaplane crash.
This was not a Holland America Line excursion; the guests booked it independently with the flight operator.
According to sources, the crash of the plane, in which there were six people including the pilot, occurred on the morning of August 5, 2021.
Rescue workers, who were only able to find the location later, were only able to determine the death of the people present – according to the information.
It is still unclear how the plane crashed, the cause of the accident has yet to be clarified. At this point, our condolences go to the families and friends of the deceased.
